Teachers Salaries in Uganda

James and I have been supporting a school on our own for about 10 years, and one of the main issues the teachers have at this private school, is the low income they receive.

Teachers are paid about $50 a month in a private school, where teachers in government schools make a little over $100 a month. Private schools offer a higher education, but if the teachers are not paid well, the teachers that are brought in will leave. Which at Divine Care, this has happened.

One of the ways we are trying to make a difference at Wenzel’s Wayside, through our non-profit, Enrich Lives, is trying to double the teachers salaries, so they make more than the government teachers, and don’t leave the school. Here is a video from Sam, our head master of the Divine Care Primary School explaining why.

Would you help? We only need 10 people to sponsor a teacher at this school. We still need two more teachers to fill grades 6 and 7. You can see the teachers that need sponsorship here and read their bio’s: https://www.wenzelswayside.com/enrich-lives/teacher/
